Scholarship Sports USA's Josiah Benjamin puts pen to paper for NCAA D1 University of San Diego. Benjamin will join up with his new Toreros teammates for the Spring 2017 semester. Standing at 6ft and 170 lbs, Benjamin offers the physical attributes needed to succeed in the NCAA Division One. Quick across the grass, and dominant in the air, Benjamin boasts multiple year selections to the Heartland All Conference teams. In an injury plagued sophomore season, Benjamin still managed to see the field fourteen times racking up 1147 minutes of game time, with a goal and an assist to his name, earning him an All Conference First Team selection.

When asked about the opportunity to play at the University of San Diego Benjamin said "[I am] very excited to be playing at the highest level of college soccer. Looking forward to playing with and against some of the best players in the USA and proving myself at the next level. Hopefully I can help the team to continue their tradition of winning the WCC conference and making the NCAA tournament. Lastly, I am hoping this move will provide me with the exposure to play at the professional level".

Interest was naturally high in Josiah and everyone at SSU is excited to see what is in store for his Junior year. The Torero's went 6-9-3, conceding 35 goals in 17 games. Benjamin will sure up the defence, while adding power, pace and steel to the backline of the Torero's, slotting in at the heart of defence, holding midfield or in the full back position. In what was a transitional season for the University of San Diego, they'll be keen to get back to winning ways in 2017. A tough 2016 schedule, forced them into unnatural territory. Having secured the Conference title in two of the last three years, the Torero's will be brimming with confidence, after their new addition, heading in 2017. A 2nd round NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014 will be exact aim for them for 2017, and with the help of Benjamin this is something they can firmly set their sights on.
